In the inner side of each tooth and its roots there is a root canal and the pulp chamber, spaces containing the nerves and vessels of the respective tooth. In several cases of dental treatment the dental pulp (nerves and vessels) can be removed. Following the removal of the content of the pulp chamber it is binding to perform a root filling, handwork representing the sealing of the root canal.
A very important role of the modern dental medicine is the root filling. The life duration of a devitalized tooth is given by the correctness of the root filling. A correct root filling has to be done on the entire length of the root canal and it has to have a homogenous consistency.
